The past.
Whilst being at home during Easter, me and my Grandmother uncovered some slides of their old family holidays and days out, from the 60's and 70's. I took it upon myself to get the slides developed so that I could make a scrap book, and after a couple of months wait, here is just a taster of the photos that I got developed:
Kinmel bay 62'
Romania '71
Amazing sunglasses
Fear of sun cream- pure comedy.
Butlins
Ray Bans at the fun fair.
Gingham.
Matching, handmade children's clothes.
Polka dot and matching ball- LOVE.
I love the photos and their vintage exposure, although my favourite part is the fashion. The way that all my family have been dressed as children can only be desired by children like me who grew up in the nineties, graced with the honour of wearing lilac Lycra trousers and crushed velvet crop tops.
I think the most amazing thing about the fashion though, is the fact that all the garments were hand made by my grandma. and you thought raising 7 children wasn't enough as it is!
I find it hard to believe how I once looked at these fashions as a child and mocked them. But when I looked closely at the pictures I begun to notice how the fashions that my grandparents followed are popular today such as my granddads Ray bans and my grandmas love for matching accessories and shoes.
It has inspired me to want to make my own clothes. I'll probably have to learn how to sew first mind; good job we have a long summer...
